Kitchen Displays

Explanation and configuration of the kitchen display

A very useful extension of the Unipos POS system is the ability to manage orders via a kitchen display. This gives you a clear overview of all orders, allows you to check off products per order, view product lists, consult upcoming orders, and more.

Overview of the different functions:

  1. Return to the POS or the POS terminal
  2. Select which orders (by date) are displayed
  3. Go to the next day’s orders
  4. Go to the previous day’s orders
  5. Retrieve an order that has been marked as completed
  6. Overview of all products that still need to be prepared that day
  7. Order time
  8. Elapsed time since the order was placed
  9. Takeaway or dine-in order
  10. Overview of products within this order
  11. Products have been checked off
  12. Delete ticket (when the order is ready)
  13. Overview of the most frequently ordered products
  14. Print a paper ticket

The kitchen display also uses color indicators to show when an order needs to be prepared at a specific time. In the example below, you can see several orders highlighted in red, and you can also see that these orders are marked as webshop orders (1).

When certain products require extra attention on the kitchen display, you can assign them a color via the settings on the product page.

Kitchen display activation:

A kitchen display is activated via a POS terminal. The following steps are required:

  1. Create kitchen display
  2. Open POS terminal
  3. Open kitchen display

First, create the kitchen display via Settings → Kitchen display → Add display, give the display a name, and save it. In this example, the display is called “kitchen display”.

After that, you can open a terminal. This can be done in two ways:

When starting the management page on a computer or tablet, you can choose “Open POS terminal” or “Open kitchen display.” In principle, these functions are the same, but both buttons are available. You can also access these options from an already opened management page by clicking the Unipos logo in the top left. This returns the management page to its home screen.

A second option is to scan the QR code that is generated by clicking the bottom-right corner of the POS home screen.

This function shows a QR code that you can scan with a tablet, which opens the POS terminal on the tablet.

Next, the system asks you to assign a name to the computer or tablet on which the POS terminal is opened. This happens the first time a terminal is opened; the next time, the system will suggest the name automatically or show the list of names.

When the POS terminal is opened and you are on the input screen, you can activate the kitchen display via the KMS button in the top left corner.
